A visit to Manipal Hospital, Pune was arranged for the Final year B. Pharm students of S.S.P. Siddhi college of pharmacy on 6th December, 2023.
A batch of 19 students along with a faculty member had visited the hospital.

The college visit began at 9:30 a.m. When we arrived, it was about 10.30 am. The Manipal Hospital team members greeted us at the reception. A trip to the hospital’s many departments, including Pharmacovigilance, ICU, ICCU, Central Pharmacy, Floor pharmacy, IN-Patient Pharmacy, canteen, pathology lab, CATH Lab, operation theaters, emergency services, various wards, etc., was planned for a group of 19 students. Throughout the visit, each department was thoroughly explained. The function of hospital pharmacists in hospital pharmacies and clinical pharmacists in hospitals, adverse drug reactions, drug distribution systems, inventory management, and medication errors were all covered in detail in the presentation that followed. Take notes on visits from physicians, nurses, and patients. Finally, We had to take a chance when it came to the real storage, buying, and billing of medications to patients in the in-patient pharmacy. All in all, it was a really interesting and educational experience. We learned about the importance of clinical pharmacists in managing general health and reporting adverse drug reactions.
According to World Health Organisation (WHO), a hospital is defined as an integral part of social and medical organization, the function of which is to provide for the population a complete healthcare, both preventive and curative.
Under the curriculum hospital visits are mandatory to understand the role of Patient Relation Associate, interaction with physicians, Patient interview, nurses for identification of unreported Adverse drug reaction and functioning of the hospital. Final year B pharmacy students were taken for a visit to the 6th December, 2023 Chikhali, Pune.
