S. P. Shikshan Sanstha’s Siddhi College of Pharmacy celebrated“4th National Pharmacovigilance Week 2024 by organizing Expert Session on Topic Building ADR Reporting Culture for Patient Safety on Monday, 23 September 2024 under the guidance of Jagannath alias Appa Saheb Shinde in association with Maharashtra State Pharmacy Council, Drug Information Center (DIC), and Chemists Association of Pune District.

On this occasion MSPC President Mr. Atul Ahire Sir gave guidance on the importance of ADR reporting for drug safety. Principal Dr.  P. N. Sable Sir said, Pharmacovigilance is an important link for pharmacists. The program was conducted in presence of eminant dignitaries Mr. Vivek Tapkir Sir, Community Pharmacist at Sai Malhar Chemist and Druggist, MSPC Coordinator, Vice President Chemists Association of Pune District, Mr. Ravindra Pawar Sir, President of Pimpri Chinchwad Chemist Association; Mr. Santosh Vare Sir, Organizing Secretary, Pimpri Chinchwad Chemist Association; Mrs. Sweta Thorave Madam, Women Member, Chemist Association of Pune District and Zonal Leader, Mr. Swapnil Jangam Sir, Mr. Sandeep Suryavanshi.

Mr. Vivek Tapkir Sir enlightened on the need of ADR reporting and created awareness about pharmacovigilance and its need for safety and efficacy of medicines. He added that the main objective of the program is to sensitize pharmacists and budding pharmacists about ADR reporting for safe and effective use of medicines. 

The main objectives of the event included:

  • Learning about potential safety issues related to medications.
  • Improving the development of safer medicines.
  • Enhancing patient safety through awareness of Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs).
  • Dramatizing real-life scenarios to emphasize the consequences of unreported ADRs and the pivotal roles healthcare professionals and patients play in ensuring drug safety.
